Lumen, a young girl learns her family history when she enters the adventurous steam-punk world of her grandfather, the legendary Captain Nemo! Art by Phil Hester and Marc Deering.
This is an exciting steam-punk series set n 1901 and is my attempt to capture some of the charming fun that I managed to achieve with a prior comic I did, entitled Leave It To Chance. Like that series, The Adventures of Lumen N. features a young girl existing in a weird and wonderful version of reality while watched over by a father-figure. In this case, that world is one of Victorian and Edwardian science fiction drawing heavily on the works of Jules Verne and other authors of adventure and the fantastic of that time. I should add at this point that the “N” in Lumen’s surname stands for Nemo, as in Captain Nemo of the Verne classics 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Mysterious Island. Indeed, Nemo is Lumen’s grandfather who brings her into his fantastic existence, training and preparing her for her future bearing the Nemo name.
Their enemies are a Cabal of villains all coming from other fictional works of yore who are now working together to conquer the world at the advent of this, a new century. The first villain they must face is Robur the Conqueror another charact of Vernes who has his own pair of books, although Robur was much more a villain in them and remains a villain in our series.
The series has fantastic art from the acclaimed Phil Hester and Marc Deering along with fantastic coloring by Bill Crabtree.
Lumen’s amazing life is just beginning so now is a great time to get on board.
